Today I am compelled to tell y’all about a great, no – an AWESOME Hoof treatment that, when used daily, or even with every trim, will help keep all those nasty hoof-eating-critters at bay.

Now, being a hoofcare professional for many years I’ve seen A LOT … a lot of the usual run-of-the-mill stuff and a lot of plain, simple weird stuff that goes on in and on equine hooves.  Suffice to say, I’ve pretty much seen it all.  (AND I’m not saying that ‘cause I want to see any more!  I don’t. Nope. I certainly do NOT want to see any more weird horse hoof stuff.  I’ve seen enough.)

Some traditional treatments don’t always carry the weight they’re purported to and, as such, I’ve looked to alternative as well as complementary substances to either give the traditionals a push in the right direction or use instead of the traditional meds.

Now I’m not saying that any one is better than the other. I believe there is a balance to health and wellness care for our equine partners. But I am going to share with you a fantastic ‘recipe’ for a hoof-spray that will knock your socks off!

First a wee introduction to you about essential oils.  They are MUCH more than just the ‘smell-good’ air-freshener sprays that you might find in your home care centers.  They are powerful substances that come from “Nature”, itself. In fact, many of our pharmaceuticals are derived from essential oils or, at least, the very plants and minerals from which the oils are produced.  Essential oils go back thousands of years and their beneficial properties have been noted throughout time.

That’s how powerful they are.

100% pure, unadulterated oils have the capabilities to pass the blood-brain barrier and reach down and break through cell membranes to alter the cells that might be causing issues within the body, rendering them incapable of reproduction.

See?  This is powerful stuff!

And that’s just the tip of it all … there’s much more about essential oils but I’ll leave that for another time and place.  Of course, if you want to learn more about them you can always simply ask. You know where to find me via email  gwen.santagate@gmail.com

Back to hooves and ‘stuff’ … OK,  so here’s a scenario.  You’re picking out, cleaning out your horse’s hooves and notice this black, tarry gunk coming out of the collateral grooves with your hoof pick. And it STINKS to high heaven!

Well, my Friend, you’ve just dug into a bacterial situation that is formally called, Fusobacterium necrophorum. Commonly known as “Thrush”.  If you’ve had horses for a long enough time I’m sure you know all about it.  It’s just plain nasty.

Well, as I promised, here is a spray recipe that you can use every day for stubborn cases or you can use once a month after trimming simply as a preventative … this stuff is awesome!   I promise!

To make sure you get 100% PURE, GRAS, Therapeutic Essential Oils, get in touch with me and I’ll lead the way.
